The conspiracy theorists are the ones conjecturing that there are lower numbers then previous years and (if so) it is due the ms admissions. Now, that is a conspiracy theory.

Absolutely agree! My own lottery magnet middle school kid was accepted to TPMS with higher MAP scores than my older child who got in through the competitive system (though that kid also had excellent COGAT scores). Both 99th percentile and older kid is in the Blair magnet currently. Younger child reports many kids smarter than kid is and with higher MAP scores too. I have no doubt my kids cohort will do well in magnet high school admissions when their time comes just like their sibling.

I believe the around 20 number from TPMS. It seems to make sense due to demonstrated interest as they went to a stem MS in the first place and they had several years of great instruction in order to prepare them, and stimulate their interest in stem fields.

I do wonder how many of these kids were already top 2-3% before the started TPMS though.
