Absolutely agree! My own lottery magnet middle school kid was accepted to TPMS with higher MAP scores than my older child who got in through the competitive system (though that kid also had excellent COGAT scores). Both 99th percentile and older kid is in the Blair magnet currently. Younger child reports many kids smarter than kid is and with higher MAP scores too. I have no doubt my kids cohort will do well in magnet high school admissions when their time comes just like their sibling.
