The swing space was SO MUCH BETTER than Murch prior to the renovations. Yes it was trailers, but that meant the classrooms had bathrooms, heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer.

So my opinion, it isn't the swing space that matters.

It was astounding how much better the Murch swing space was than the formerly crumbling building.

What are the other issues? Everyone keeps saying this, but no one is clearly articulated their views/opinion. I would be curious to hear.

I would probably opt out of the swing space option for a few reasons.

One being that the potential swing space that is at the benning road northeast site has its own logistic issues, including the current transportation setup for J. O. Wilson.

The second being Chisholm/Tyler has other issues that I don’t think are always addressed.

play the lottery, then decide. you are presumably extremely close to watkins, pretty close to payne/van ness, and only 1 mile or so from maury. flipside, immersion should help chisholm retain some families through the renovation and if you suffer through the renovation you may end up with really small class sizes in your child’s class year because the inconvenience will lose some families but you cannot newly enroll in any of the upper grades without prior spanish experience.

It’s the Northeast site (26th & Benning - Springarn?) starting the 2026-2027 school year.

What about Tyler\Chisolm? Anyone know where they will be relocated to and when?

I’ve heard LT will have 3 5th grade classes next year. If I was the parent of a Brent would-be 5th grader, that’s where I would plan to head if Basis and Latin didn’t work out. Avoid the Upper School model, the swing space and grab the SH feed as a back up all at once? Yes, please. If they’re really doing 3 classes, you may even be able to add it post-lottery and get in.

Anyone know what is going on with the swing space? Updated status? When? Where?
