DP, we have a neighbor who feeds the foxes and we have very few squirrels.

Foxes moved in my neighborhood and squirrels disappeared. Love it!

Are you sure it’s squirrel poop and not rat poop? I would bet on rats which would also be attracted to the food the older woman gives to the squirrels. I once had rats burrowing along my fence line and there was poop all over my yard. There are many squirrels running though and digging in my yard and I’ve never seen much squirrel poop.

We used to have a squirrel feeder in our yard. They were fun to watch, then became a nuisance by wrecking our bird feeders. We got rid of the squirrel feeder because of this and it’s not good for them to depend on feeders. We also don’t fill up the bird feeders like we used to. Heard this also isn’t good for them, but I do enjoy seeing birds in the yard.

DP, we have a neighbor who feeds the foxes and we have very few squirrels.

Be glad you don't live next door to the neighborhood "cat lady," a retired teacher who has never married and has 33 cats living in and aroubd her home. She wears long gloves to pick them up and has sheets draped over all her lovely antiques and upholstered firniture.

Explain nicely that squirrels should not be fed for the following reasons:

1. They carry ticks and rabies.
2. They are in direct resource competition with birds, and some birds are endangered.

Encourage her to feed the birds, and point out that even if she gets a feeder that's squirrel-proof, squirrels will find ways to eat leftovers anyway. That way, she will prioritize birds, who need winter sustenance, but also help out squirrels (who don't really need it). Also, when it's below freezing, what birds really need is fresh water! That's why some people have heated bird fountains

OP, you don't seem very bright. Stop harassing your neighbor, and get yourself a hobby.

Squirrels are outside animals. wild animals. It's not really possible to get it infestation of them

The hawk might take care of the issue.

If not, encourage foxes.

Squirrel populations go up and down but if you guys haven’t dealt with a neighbor feeding animals you may not realize how bad it can get and how fast.

They also haven't figured out that the oaks dropping a flood of acorns also don't have something to do with the birth and survival rate of squirrels this fall.

We don't feed the squirrels, and they are everywhere.
