My 7 year old watches as many movies and TV shows as she likes as long as homework and activities are done. She is ahead in all subjects (gets mostly 4s on the 1-4 scale). She's a great reader, flys through chapter books, and she's a great leader and listener. I'm not saying you should give them unlimited screentime, but you sound very controlling if at 7 your kid hasn't watched any shows. They will resent you for it if they don't already.

We don’t own a TV it’s not like I’m hiding something from her. It’s just not an option for any of us.

We aren’t a screen free because we are trying to be controlling or we see any real harm in moderate amount of screen time. I wish I was that organized or intentional as a parent, but the trust is we’re just a very ADHD household and screens just don’t hold our attention very well.

I feel like all my kids are fairly well-adjusted in life. And DD has watched movies and TV shows in various situations (friends or family homes). She’s social and has a lot in common wi to her peers. She just hasn’t watched any consistently enough to have a favorite that will hold her attention.
