I’m a PP, I think it trends wealthy but I think there are plenty of families that get aid and/or cut way back to afford it. We get aid

On Visi's website it says 33% of students receive financial aid. So I think it is safe to assume that 1/3 of the class is not "wealthy" whatever definition is used. The other 2/3 of the class presumably have sufficient family assets/incomes (or grandparents) to pay the tuition. Many of the full pay 2/3 are wealthy, some of the full pay 2/3 (like our family) are just barely able to pay full tuition by cutting expenses elsewhere, and the rest of the full pay 2/3 are in between those extremes.

I can only speak to my daughter's experience as a current 9th grader, but she is very happy. So far, the classes are not difficult for her but from what she has said that will change a lot as she moves to honors/AP classes. She has made some really good friends and I think she is really finding her 'people.' She hasn't mentioned any issues with bullying or 'mean girls' but to be honest she's kind of a quiet nerdy type so may not be running in those circles. She loves it there.

I have posted many times as a Visi parent. My DD enjoys the school, has good friends, good classes and its a great place for her. The girls I've met seem very sweet. Agree with the above poster, I don't like to go on the Visi threads as there are just some really strange comments that tend to derail things and don't seem to have much connection to anything to do with the school

There have been one or two particularly notorious anti-Visi posters on this board of late. People are not willing to feed those trolls so, unfortunately, you can rely on what you read about the school even less than you normally can on DCUM. The price you pay for anonymity.

Really? then why are you here? If you want to talk to people that you know who they are and who their kids are, there are plenty of ways to get that. all schools host events where you can have those discussions. If you want unvarnished, anonymous rumors and banter, then come to DCUM. If you are smart you will pursue information from both sources and then form your own judgment.
if you want DCUM posters to begin stating their names and where their kids go to school, I think it would dry up pretty fast.


Easy. I just mean the PP was spewing a lot of accusations that may or may not be based on experience. I get the anonymous board concept. In that particular case I expressed my reaction- I wished I knew if they even had kids at Visi. This topic interests me and I can’t get a straight answer from people I know who go there (and I only know a few). My 8th grade DD applied, we did the tours, she shadowed. We still don’t know the answer to this

Why do people always talk about this school so cryptically? You can never get any hardcore factual info. Or accounts of anyone with kids there. Red flag. With Stone Ridge or Holton, people will always pop up on here with a firsthand account.

Does the big Visi Monster chew girls and spit them out? Can never get an honest answer.
