+1. There are a few 45 student classes, and many more of the 15-20 person classes. Labs are 10-15 students.

UVa Engineering total undergraduates is maybe 2000-2500 range, who are spread across all the engineering majors (including CS). It is relatively small for an Engineering school, wildly smaller than some other VA publics. Students there definitely are names, are known to their professors, and are not just numbers.

The first day of UVa Engineering they had an assembly with all the new 1st year students and told everyone that “Every student here is capable of graduating, but it will require focus and hard work. We want ALL of you to graduate with a degree in Engineering. Use office hours wisely to get help. Start the homework early, so you have time to get help from faculty office hours before it is due.”

Many non-PhD granting institutions have smaller engineering programs/classes.

Nevermind just talked to my friend and UNG is where he's starting and transferring to GT for the engineering degree.

A friend of mine has a son at University of North Georgia for Engineering. Smaller school and small class sizes.

All first year engineering students take the same classes, those are larger but not lecture hall style large.
