I think a lot of people have made their own judgments and built correlation between ordering online and being lazy. Although in general that may be true to a certain degree, there are also valid reasons sometimes on why someone would order online. I have been sick and was avoiding going outside in freezing cold and spreading virus. The question about saving money and coupons was a general question as I would need to stay home some more until I feel fit to go out. Yes, it was a lesson learnt that if one wants to save money, move your ass and drive, but the circumstance was different yesterday.
Anyway, thanks for all the tips around buying frozen pizza, Wegman's etc. It's a good idea to have something in home-store for a rainy day.
As for the tax is concerned, I will see what they have to say. It's nothing related to the $ amount, but I would like to know for my own knowledge.
Thanks all.

Mod pizza in Rockville has curbside pick up. I hate driving up the pike so I feel you, especially when sick. Delivery has become really expensive with fees, but I know I'm paying for the luxury. Many of the restaurants that use third party websites like DoorDash charge an extra 10-15%. A few places nearby I call for pickup instead of ordering online.

Right, but did you have no food in your house? None, at all? Even if you didn't really want to eat it?

I get being sick and not wanting to go out, but ALL delivery is a luxury convenience. No one is entitled to it, no matter their reasoning or circumstance. It's really weird to complain about it. That said, I hope you feel better soon.

Are you in the city of Fairfax? There is a 4% meals tax there on top of regular sales tax.

I will never understand people who are so lazy, so as to complain about delivery fees or delivery tips.

All of is is a bargain for the luxury of your leisure.

+1
It’s like using Instacart and then getting salty that it costs more than going to the grocery store.

Did you call to place an order, use a 3rd party app, or the restaurant’s website? Just wondering if they are using a crappy app that isn’t registering each state’s sales tax.

Agree. And it’s not like their time is that precious if they are here on DCUM.

We typically make are own pizza. If we order it, I usually pick it up myself. It’s cheaper and faster. On the rare times we get delivery, when we are busy/pressed for time, I gladly tip for the convenience and service.
