What if the dad was a psychologist for prisoners, many of whom are likely rapists and murderers? It shouldn’t affect whether your son plays with his kid.

These relationships have something like a 90% divorce rate. Will be interesting to see the impact a decade or so down the road, though the percentage of marriages that are open is probably less than 10%.

I would say no, unless you're comfortable with your friends parents having girlfriends. I personally am not. Or rather, I don't care but I don't want them telling my kids about it.

Polygamy is a lot worse & more potential for abuse than polyamory. Polygamy traditionally conferred a degree of ownership over the women, with very limited options for the women who needed to leave the relationship.

I think so too but women not having legal spousal rights is also a form of abuse. I guess women can get prenup for right to divorce, spousal support, alimony etc. That being said, some partner/partners take advantage of others, no matter its polyamory and polygamy, both are unacceptable to me. That's just not in human nature, someone would be unhappy.

Polyamory has reached a level of tedium with me and I am officially over talking about it. The fact that it's now in the New York Times and the Atlantic is evidence of what a boring cultural subject it is.

Do what you want, but please don't discuss your sex life with me, and don't expect me to keep tabs on the state of your polyamorous marriage because I am busy and cannot be bothered to check in about whether you are open or closed or dating or what. And no, I am not enthusiastic about you bringing your boyfriend to our barbecue, not because I think polyamory is wrong but because he's... off, and I don't know him and he weirds out the kids. Sorry.
