I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: if you experience things one way, just be grateful and don’t make judgments on those of us who don’t experience it that way. I would love to feel satiety. I don’t usually. How do you think that feels, to eat a well balanced meal in a balanced amount and feel the gaping maw of hunger?

The whole intermittent fasting thing is pointless for 99.9999% of people. Unless you are very strict diet tied to a very strict workout routine and have sub 10% body fat, it isn’t so much for you.

The only thing I get matters is your calorie deficit. Nothing else matters.

It is common for some to eat a late dinner. I have a kid in high school who eats before sports and then eats again after. I’m at work when he eats his first dinner so i eat with him afterwards, usually around 8:15. I’m not trying to lose weight, so it doesn’t seem to impact me much, but it’s odd that you don’t seem to realize others have different schedules.

Yeah-- depending on season, this is the biggest obstacle to my IF. Sometimes the kids need to eat dinner at 7:30 or 8:00 because of schedules. And other times, I have something going on where I want to be well nourished relatively early in the morning. So there are often spans of a year where I can do this and make it work. But definitely not all the time.

Yeah 7:30 - 7:30 isn’t really intermittent fasting, that’s just normal. Makes you wonder what OP was eating and drinking after 7:30 that this is making her lose weight.

I try from either 4 pm- breakfast or dinner 6ish-noon. Big fan of IF.

Me too. I never eat at those times.

Alternatively, some people have an early dinner. We used to eat at 5ish when my kids were little so I tended to have a small snack later in the evening.

I think this is good idea. I do this naturally.
I don’t think 12 hrs is a fast, it isn’t that long. But generally, most food/snack decisions after 7:30 at night are not good choices (snack foods, cookies, etc)

Yes--this is why intermittent fasting helped for me. I gave myself a 'rule.' Even if the kids were coming into the room with cake and ice cream, I'd just tell myself I need to wait til tomorrow lunch and can have the same thing if I want. And of course, by then the craving had worn off. Mornings with IF were tougher-- when starting, I'd count down the minutes til I could have coffee and breakfast. But that delayed breakfast would fill me up, delay my lunch, and delayed lunch would make me make a very small dinner... and then another cycle.

I've been telling myself to start again but right now it's a bit hard because I do a lot of physical stuff some mornings at work and feel like I need to eat breakfast before.

I lost a lot of weight on intermittent fasting (and then had life changes/stressed out and gained it back)!

OP-- I did a longer fast (usually like 7:00-11:00) but my belief was that it wasn't the hormone stuff that they tout with IF, but rather I think the reason it helped me is that it stopped me from snacking... I'd want a snack, realize that it was after 7 and somehow my commitment to IF convinced me to forego... or I'd delay breakfast, and then end up combining breakfast/lunch and kind of skipping the other meal.

If 12 hour has this effect for you, that's fantastic!

I have coffee with a splash of half n half and then eat two meals, generally between 11-7 . At times I don’t eat until 2 pm. Doing this kind of helps you deal with hunger too. I used to eat all day long tiny snacks. Now most days just two meals no snacks. But I also listen to my body. Some days for whatever reason I need to eat earlier I do.

People should not be eating all day long though. You can’t digest and you keep pumping that insulin.
