The base boundaries of LJ feed entirely into Falls Church now (used to be Falls Church and Oakton) but there are AAP kids at LJ who go to Oakton and Madison.
The Oakton areas that used to go to LJ for Gen Ed now go to Thoreau, which is now a 3-way split feeder to Madison, Oakton, and Marshall.
I don't understand how AAP affects what h/s children go to when AAP is just for elementary and middle. Can someone explain? Thx.

Academically LJ and even Falls Church HS are fine, but I have found that socially it a is a lot harder for kids to make friends. There is also more BS at school like FCHS where my kid won't even use the restroom during the day because of all the kids in there vaping. If we were buying a house all over again I would absolutely choose a different pyramid.
You really think kids aren’t vaping at Woodson?
I’m sure they vape in bathrooms everywhere. But the kids at FCHS doing it are a lot more sketchy. Having a high population of kids who don’t care about school doesn’t make for a great environment.

+1
LJ is struggling.

Ah, so it was never really about the vaping at all, was it? Just about more “sketchy” = non-White kids. Classic DCUM.
No it is about the high population of kids that don't give a sh*t about school and make for a crappy environment. Having police at the school and threats of violence on a regular basis is not the environment I would choose for my kids.
And yes it is still about the vaping and administration that doesn't care. Kids not being able to use the bathroom during the school day does not equal a great school environment.

If your kid is the only one who cares then that means they have a really great chance at being captain and quarterback of the football team, captain of the debate and physics club and class valedictorian.
If he’s none of those things then he’d end of solidly in the middle of the pack at a “better” school which means he’d not get into any decent university and he’d end of working at McDonalds.
Right now he’s got the makings of a great college essay, how a middle of the road white guy overcame adversity, diversity and the stench of the poors yet still managed to rise like cream to the top!
UVA or bust baby!
And let me guess, you are probably the kind of parent who would lose their mind if they rezoned their kids school, not because you don't want your kids at a school like FCHS, but because you worry the bus ride would be too long. Angry at the experience my child is actually having while your kid goes to Woodson.

If you are staying look at HS. Woodson is huge, Oakton is medium sized and Falls Church is small. Falls Church is in midst of complete renovation - scheduled to be complete in 2026 - and will be gorgeous.
You are misinformed. Oakton has substantially more students than Woodson.
And Woodson and Oakton have both been renovated relatively recently. Renovated high schools in FCPS are functional but never gorgeous.
