She sounds 100% fine. Mine did the same, and I'm so happy she is able to be happy and entertain herself.

Our school's on site aftercare program was open both Tuesday (delayed opening) and Wednesday so my son thankfully was able to go to that program all day and play with friends. They even let the kids go outside and play in the snow if they brought appropriate shoes. I was able to get my work done.

She’s an only, so she was shunned by the neighborhood moms of multiples and not allowed to play. /s

Monday - my 4th grader played in the snow and the basement and was on her iPad, Tuesday - she had a friend over and they did the same, Wednesday - MCPS - so played/iPad in the morning and BarT in the afternoon.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow…

Or, they don’t like her or you.

Pp here. Yes, I had to scream at them when they were watching too much TV on Tuesday so they went out more on Wednesday and actually had fun. It's an age where they start acting out so them spending more time outside yesterday was a win in my book.

I was fortunate to be able to take some time off to spend with DS 10. We did some sledding, watched some TV, did some reading, practiced his instrument a little, cleaned up the house a little, built a large Lego set that he got for Christmas and I immediately put away for a snow or sick day, and talked through summer vacation options so I can book it this week.

But OP, if I hadn’t been able to take time off, and/or if my kid didn’t want to sled, or if we lived in our old neighborhood that didn’t have a lot of kids, he also would have had a lot of screen time and been a little bored. I’m sure your kid is safe, and warm, and loved, and you’re doing your best.

3th and 5th grade girls
~ 2 hours of screen time per day (video games)
~1.5 hours sledding/playing outside
The rest of the time the kids entertained themselves with toys, books, and crafts.
They both practiced their instruments without a fight!!

Kindergartener and preschooler here. Tuesday we spent a long time outside - sledding, playing with friends in the snow. We have a hill and playground in our neighborhood that's a great meeting place.

Older one also had a playdate at a friend's house. It was a fun day & very social for parents and kids both.

There was also a lot of relaxing/playing and TV at home too while we teleworked and switched off with the kids.

Day 2 was more of a regular work day - they went to aftercare/daycare for part of the day.

MCPS kid did some sledding and post-MCPS college freshman drove to his dorm, only to find out that classes had been cancelled but food hall was still open.

I made some decadent melted chocolate drinks.

Good times were had by all.

Looking forward to another one tomorrow.

13 and 15yo daughters:
-played video games
-played outside and built a mini-snowman
-went sledding
-took the dog for walks
-baked cookies
-continued to work on self-initiated project of cleaning out the basement to turn it into a better hangout space
-practiced instruments
-read
-enjoyed downtime

Quite enjoyable for them and for me (cookies! cleaner basement!), and required minimal supervision or help while parents were teleworking all day.

Tuesday: spent most of the day playing in our yard. Older kid went sledding with a friend. Younger spent an hour playing video games while they were gone.

Wednesday: spent 20 minutes outside before deciding it was too cold. Spent another 20 minutes reading. Spent several hours on screens.

Tv, video games, sledding with friends, kinda helped shovel, built a fort, more tv and video games.

Just let them do what they enjoy it’s a rare do nothing day.
