What is this nonsense. Full time nanny and now a discussion about the merits/flaws of capitalism. No, this is just simply about pulling your weight, being an equal partner in a relationship. Ideally, you work as a team. This isn't that hard.

I see a mom in our school group doing this weaponized incompetence. She never gets the newsletters; never knows what's going on at school and then doesn't chat with anyone; talk to the school about getting the lists.

Her husband is always there; her husband takes the kid to the doctor.

100% its not just men; but with home/family/kld things I hear about it more with the dads. BTW at our school the dads and moms are great (except the one above)

They are selfish and more than happy to do nothing and tag along with all your work.

With my friend in this situation I'm telling her to leave. He doesn't bring in money though; she does; he keeps getting fired. He also has said he's not into sex with her or anyone anymore and she can't see someone on the outside. They have a special needs kid and he's great at playing not at the other stuff.

I say cut her loses and he can play with the kid when she needs childcare. She's already doing all the things anyway; cutting ties isn't going to deplete her life. But she might have to pay him for his weaponized incompetence.

I'm beyond tired of having to repeat myself 10000X a day, DH asks me a question I answer and then 30 seconds later asks the same question again, if we're going some where he can't get ready on time even if you give him a time, I can list all these things but this man makes money, has a career, manages 15 people yet can't handle basic crap at home. I can't do it anymore. Something is really wrong here.

Please. Most of them were well removed from the front lines, working the motor pool or something for a few years. When they got home, they had the time, but cultural norms were such that they wouldn't change a diaper. And yet, they're hero worshiped as the ideal man. Meanwhile, modern guys do way more domestic work and get talked down as lazy and inadequate.

Wow. Should black people also be happy because they aren't lynched indiscriminately anymore like they were 100 years ago. Should we always be happy with scraps because it's better than it used to be.

Oooh women can own credit cards now so its okay we make less than man. We should be grateful.

Ugh. different standards and some did more; some wanted to and couldn't and some didn't care that their wife was overworked. They were also supposed to be happy they were hit with a hand and not a belt too.

Or...WWW (White Western Women) are just insufferable to be around. I am divorced from a WWW who was an overweight blob and got remarried to a beautiful Brazilian who is much nicer and takes care of herself. She's an angel with my kids too...

My ex worked part time and still couldn't find time to do anything around the house, and I handled all the outdoor stuff, the car stuff and ensured maintenance of our core house stuff (AC, Heating, Appliances). All she had to do was pick up after the kids and couldn't even do that.

I'm much better off.

I would agree with you that there is something wrong with the way children are brought up in America. Both men and women. Low standards around the house and with work. Too dependent on technology.
