I think your approach is all wrong.
The way for you to make sure it’s loved AND hated by your 12 yo DD is to let her watch it now and love it! And then make her watch it again when she’s 25 and HATE it!

He’s the complete opposite of the worst—and is why he is just too good to be on this show! Lorelai is waaaaay too narcissistic to be with someone so healthy.

They should have a reoccurring skit where each character is randomly sucker-punched during each episode.

Christopher and Logan are both horrible and also obviously supposed to be two generations of the same version of horrible, so agree with you there.

Add Lane! Love Lane and her storyline. Her mother isn't half bad either.

But Lane participates in the central premise of the show, which is that Rory is somehow special and deserving of unique attention and support. Both Lane and Suki seem like they could be good characters, and yet the exist primarily to enable all of Lorelai and Rory's horribleness, so I can't get behind them.

Lane's mom I'll give you. She is rightfully suspicious of everyone else on the show. This is the only appropriate way to interact with this pile of narcissistic nut jobs.
