Cap. What age was this? They must've played in the lower bracket. No year younger teams dominated the 1st bracket.

Which team are you referring to? If you're referring to vda- they were in the 2nd division which is essentially a rec league. Doesn't look like vda had any teams in the first division.

If you're referring to Bethesda, if you scroll down you'll notice there are 3 bsc teams for U11. The first one played on age and won all games. The other 2 teams were the 2nd team and the 3rd was the U10s that played up a year and they did not do well, I wouldn't call winning one game too easy.

Yep. It’s an organized way to play summer soccer. Probably a little overpriced for what you get. Depending on your travel plans and kids schedules it’s a way to get some soccer games in, sometimes my kid gets sick of camps . Not strenuous or stressful, but really hot. Try out, it varies from team to team, club to club and the scores sometimes reflect that. It’s great we have options

Yes this is true for MYS. when my DD was on gold, they didn’t even offer/let the girls know to try out.

This was also true of my son's Arlington team (blue), but we found out about the tryout from the website, went, and ultimately he was offered a spot and had a good time. So you never know.

Super Y is for ANY player who just wants to keep playing over the summer. There is nothing magical about it and there is nothing terrible about it.

It isn't free so the value proposition will certainly vary. From a clubs perspective it is an extra revenue generator more than it is a tool for scouting. It's just a casual summer league that may or may not include a practice schedule. There really isn't anything to debate other than your own personal schedule.

That is it. I wish there was a like button here like social media.

Complete and total money grab.
Might as well just slip a $100 bill in the coaches pocket, and then go spend your time in a better way."

What are you looking to get out of it? It was fun for my kid, he got some exercise, he was off video games for a while, he met some new people. I was satisfied for those reasons.

Word is out that super y sucks.
Spend your time/money on a camp or some training and your player will be much better off.

We're fairly new to soccer and travel.

My kids are on white and were offered to try out. But, I have a few concerns. One is it's summer and very hot. Two is we normally relax some on the training during summer since fall and spring are so tight with training/games.

Clubs tend to try to put together the best teams they can, so team strength varies greatly by club. This can also be a good opportunity for players on 2nd and 3rd teams etc. to mix in with teams above (and below) them and get looks they otherwise wouldn't get, play new positions, get a different coaching experience etc.

It's HOT in the summer, especially on turf. This can make for an unpleasant experience depending on your kid. Also, some kids just need a break from soccer.

So it just depends on what your goals are.

I can see some potential downsides to the Super Y League... poor scheduling, too many practices.... not giving your kids a break, difficult competition to think of a few....
Could you elaborate on some of the reasons that made it a terrible experience?
Thanks, I was considering for my kid, but found out our club doesn't have a Super Y team, but im not sure if its worth it to try out for a another team.

Where are you? Tryouts are free.
