If you order a gift subscription does it auto-renew? So maybe my husband or sister orders it for me and I give my sister the money?

I want to order a year of the Economist to read and also to encourage / make/ bribe my high school kids into reading some good articles but I don't want the anguish of trying to later cancel.

I have the same issue (ha!) with The New Yorker. I like the hard copy version bc then I pass them on to my dad after I’m done.
I recently had to dispute a charge, finally got it cleared and I swore I’d be done. But then they got me with a super great offer last week-I’m back in.
