2-3 inches on bridges that wont yet be cleared?

Why wouldn't they be cleared?

They treated roads over the weekend, the treatment chemicals have now washed off. Some roads are wet and will freeze tonight especially bridges, then the 1-4 inches of snow will stick to the roads.

Are you one of those parents that lives in VA and sends their kid to DC schools and expects the schools to close every time it snows? We live one block from my children's private and they can walk easily. I hope schools do not close.

Newsflash, not all teachers can walk to work and yes some live in VA or MD!

Sorry but schools don't base their decision around you and your next door kids. Very few kids can walk to their private school.

Most private schools will almost certainly have a delayed opening, but I doubt they will close if the current forecast holds.

We’re in NoVA but inside the Beltway. I’m betting there will be a delay but not a cancellation.

+1 our school is in DC, but follows MoCo's closing schedule.

They do say that they know kids live in vastly different areas and that weather conditions may be different---so use caution and judgement---don't have to come in if it is too treacherous.

They will run school virtually on those days too. So if they can't physically be there, they are expected to 'virtually' be there--cameras on, collared shirt on, participation, etc.

There is no chance any of our kids will have school tomorrow. Remember last week when they closed for rain? I moved here from Nee England a couple of decades ago where this would be easy commute weather. It’s seems that everyone in this region is afraid of a few snowflakes, they might as well call it off now.

I’m on the board of a local private. It’s much easier from a liability perspective to have a hard rule of following a county. I would be nervous not to and be open and god forbid there’s an accident, potentially it could open the school to liability. Should be excused under act of god but would still be a pain to deal with.

Applications for the first private to close will skyrocket as they will be proven leaders - not sheep!

Roads are clear in DC

Yes, the concern is not about current conditions...This event is not over, re-freeze, more snow and freezing rain coming.

We are so lucky everyone at every school lives in DC
