Tier 1 often plays less games. Ashburn plays the most.

I heard that the Little Caps to STJ deal is falling apart but it seems like these are all things the lawyers should have checked before.

Just do not get how you can’t tell families where they need to drive to in order to play. Game changer for sure.

This is what the PVAHA rules say:

“Tier I organizations should operate independently of Tier II organizations so as to best ensure the competitiveness of Tier I teams. This philosophy shall not be construed to discourage multiple organizations from sponsoring or supporting an independently funded and operated Tier I organization.”

Does your kid play AA level or play for TSJ? They play 2 leagues so would get that many. Not many UA or lower play that many games

They will push it for sure. Academy is the new model. Should go back to the old way where they accommodated high school hockey. Make the MAPHL great again.

High school hockey is SO bad in the DMV. The quality of play is awful.

MAPHL used to be pretty good. Plenty of Tier 1 kids could do nothing in MAPHL and many 16AA and 18AA kids couldn't make the top teams. In 2020, SJC destroyed Loyola Chicago and St Joe's Prep in Purple Puck and Landon had a number of NCAA players on their team. St Albans had a few D1 NCAA kids (as well as other Tier 1 kids) and missed the playoffs. DeMatha had a number of great tough teams too. Has really fallen off since the Tier 1 teams became hostile, which also coincides with Tier 1 becoming a joke around here.

Used to be 3 times a week. Also paid coaches (of dubious pedigree) and workout sessions. Don't forget the team fee on top of that plus your travel costs. You're looking at $15-20K to play on a team that may not be better than MYHA, especially at older ages. Maybe with academy model they'll ditch the AYHL.

That's the weird thing - St. James also has paid coaches (of dubious pedigrees) and weekly workout sessions, but they are half the price. Maybe they pay more coaches per team or pay the coaches more? St. James teams always seem to be running with shoestring coaching staffs - like a single coach running an entire bench of 10U kids.
