It is disgusting, but most houses with cats are pretty dirty, so I wouldn’t eat their food anyway.

I cat sat once and freaked out when I saw the cat on my kitchen counter. I purchased a plastic runner with the bumps on the back and put the bump side up across the counter. The cat didn't like it and stopped going there.

I've learned over the years that many people just don't have high standards when it comes to cleaning and germs. More so in certain demographics and the responses here reinforce my beliefs. Just yuck.

I am an animal lover but I find a dog jumping on the bed after its been taken for a walk outside and stepping in who knows what just as disgusting.

However, I’m fortunate that my cats don’t jump on the counter (that I know of and nothing appears disturbed) but I still wipe it down especially in the morning and at night. I’m no saint and know they’ve been hanging out in the litter pan.😂

Yes, it's disgusting. Cats poop and stand in the litter tray and then take the same paws and walk on your countertops were you prepare food. I like cats, but obviously this is not sanitary.

You may find cats disgusting, but it's NOWHERE close to the gross things dogs do. And I know people love dogs despite dogs being gross, but you cannot deny that cats are farrrrr cleaner animals.

Cats and food are never touching the same surfaces. I treat counter as if dirty and food is always on another surface. Tried to train cats not to jump on counters but it was a lost cause.

Yeah, mine just jump up there to get to the window sill so they can watch birds outside. It’s not like they just sit around on the counters. This is so far down on my list of things to worry about. They bring us far more joy than any negligible risk of contamination is worth.


So when you find piss covered grit from the litter box on your table because it was stuck in your cat's toe, you just pluck it off with your bare hand?
