We are mix: Chinese (specifically Cantonese), Vietnamese and Caucasian.
So, we have Chinese dishes and Vietnamese dishes. NEVER pizza on Lunar New Year.

A pot of vegetables. You know what I'm talking about. The tofu, cabbage, fungus,etc pot of vegetables.

Bring dim sum and fruits.

Get a variety of Chinese dishes from your favorite Chinese takeout and tell you BIL’s family to just eat their pizza. They won’t, of course, which will just prove your point next Lunar New Year that Chinese food is the way to go.

Your BIL sounds like a pill!

I would tell him there is no point to a Chinese brew Year with pizza.

He should let you do it right, and bow out if that is too hard (awful lesson for his kids).

Then you can go to a restaurant and have a great banquet (fish, Peking duck, broccoli or bok choy, , dumplings …). Enjoy!!
