I don't usually need more than an umbrella because I am either dropped off and picked up from the covered entrances of buildings, OR I stay home.

My tall hunter boots aren’t that comfy but they’re so useful for rainy days. I also appreciate that they’re easy to slip on and off for dog walks and playground runs. Leggings and boots for me, I despise the feeling of wet pants and socks.

You can buy short rain boots. Also, it sounds like you are buying cheap rain gear. A good raincoat will have ventilation or be made of a very lightweight fabric to prevent it from trapping heat (since waterproof fabric capable of keeping moisture out will also keep heat and moisture in otherwise). I have a lightweight North Face rain jacket that never makes me sweat. I got it on sale so only paid about $90. Worth every penny!

Once I was visiting family in Seattle and I was teased for using an umbrella. The native Seattlites (?) just braved the drizzle.

I’m sure not everyone in the Pacific Northwest does the same but it made me extremely blasé about getting wet when making a trip to the grocery store.

I adore my La Canadiennes but 15???? I can’t believe anyone has 15 pairs of boots. What do you do with them? Where do you keep them?

I have realized lately that the rain doesn’t bother me anymore since I had cataract surgery with lens replacements in both eyes, and thus I do not have to wear glasses anymore. Let it rain! I do have a slicker and rubber boots, if need be.

Me too. But they have come in so handy in the last few weeks.

Oh hi! You probably saw me in my wet hoodie and hair. I don’t mind getting wet. I also don’t like the feeling of rain gear. It’s so stiff and bulky. I’ll use an umbrella but today’s wind was so strong that i felt like my umbrella was going to snap.

I so agree with this. A few years back I invested in good rain boots and a rain jacket. They’re very neutral color and the rain jacket has a flattering waist line so it looks cute on. I suspect this will be my nice rain gear for decades (especially since I only wear them on sporadic rainy days I have to leave the house). But it really is a game changer feeling like I have the appropriate attire to put on for the weather and it keeps me dry.

I WAH but had to run out for a dr’s appointment at lunch and get the kids to the bus stop this morning, so it’s not like I can just hibernate because it’s raining.

It's 'adulting' to have the right clothing and to use it dress for the weather. Some will never get there. Shrug.
