OP, my mom gave me a label maker years ago and at the time I was like "I have no current need for this." But then needs just... emerge. Especially if you live with other people. Kids love labels and it can make it much easier for them to stay organized. I don't know why, but if you put a label that says "socks" on a bin, the socks are more likely to end up in there than if you just say "this is the sock bin." Also you are less likely to be asked "where are all my socks???!!!"
Also, regarding storage of any kind (pantry, out of season clothes, holiday decor, old photos, etc.), once you start putting labels on clear plastic bins, you'll never stop. It's so satisfying. I love my "Winter Gear" bin, my "Swimsuits and Sun Gear" bin, my "Kid Art and Mementos, 2020-2024" bin. I know where everything is. And thanks to the label, anyone else can too.
