Just came back from out west- skiing is such a great workout- challenge yourself and do harder runs. I definitely burned tons of calories doing moguls and being able to get tons of runs in per hour.
The hard part is resisting the fondue, great craft beer and fattening foods at apres ski (especially since we were in Aspen)

I ramp up core strengthening and wall sits. The good thing about skiing is that you are only exerting yourself for short periods with long rests in between, but those short periods are intense if you are skiing moguls or steeps.

Nothing really, but it helps to be overall in better physical condition, so if you do any regular exercise or sport during the year, to build up muscle strength and stamina, you’d be ok.

I find that no matter how hard I train beforehand with squats and lunges and deadlifts, I am still sore the first day or so. There are some muscles you use in skiing that I have not found how to build up beforehand.
