If you are going to be out of town for a week of the program definitely do NOT do HPE9 through FCPS/ACE. They will automatically drop you from the course if you miss more than 2 synchronous sessions at any time during the course (including the last week).

Both of mine did HPE9 through Virtual VA. You cannot register for it yourself - your guidance counselor has to register you for it. Also, if you want to take a VVA class pass/fail, you will need to get that form from your guidance counselor and have it filled out and signed BEFORE the class starts.

VVA is way easier and less effort intensive than HPE through FCPS/ACE. Same curriculum, just less dumb requirements.

Summer cohort 1 started June 3 this year. I think cohort 2 is June 17.

Yes, you upload a screen shot of the Fitbit data on your phone/computer. My kid made it fine. Only once did he have to redo a workout because his heart rate wasn’t high enough. He did online yearlong PE though so he had all week to fit in 3 workouts, which was easier.

How does one prove the exercise requirement? Do you screen shot a Fitbit log? I’ve heard kids having issues meeting the HR requirement.

Not all schools allow you to do it through Virtual Virginia. My kid's school didn't -- they said there has to be a staff member who oversees the program, and they don't have one. So we were forced to do FCPS Online Campus. But I know other schools do allow you to do it -- check with the HS counselor!

How do we register for PE through Virtual Virginia? I see the class description, but can't find a link to register.

How did the CPR component work?

You’ll be on your CPR req BUT it can be done beforehand. My kid finished it maybe April(ish) and just gave a copy of the certificate to the VV teacher and her HS counselor. VV has quite a bit of work.

How did the CPR component work?

I am the suggester of Virtual Virginia. Full disclosure, my child actually took PE 10 last summer before PE 9 for reasons I won't get into here, so she is actually taking PE 9 this upcoming summer, thus I cannot speak to the CPR component yet. She took Drivers ed thru VADETS concurrently. I see what it says on the course listing, of course, but frankly don't really want to spend the additional money for a full CPR cert when the PE is already kind of expensive! So need to find a nurse or something I guess.

The CPR piece was a required in-person session at a secondary school in Fairfax County. There was one date and it was mandatory. It was super simple and was maybe 15 min long (it took longer to get to the school). This is a state requirement to graduate.
