It’s going to be low 70’s and windy next week. I would not lock yourself into snorkeling - it could be very cold. Kayaking should be fine. Dec-Feb are not reliably warm in the Keys so keep a close eye on the weather and pack accordingly. We only go in spring but my SIL went a couple years ago during winter break and they couldn’t swim at all.

Agree with PPs-LOVE the keys and my kids do too. We love water sports, fishing, snorkeling, and boating. My kids, especially loved the kayaking through the mangroves and taste testing various key lime pies.

We love the keys. If you need external stimulation and entertainment at all times, it’s not for you. We can’t wait to go back!

The Florida Keys are all about scuba diving, fishing, and kayaking. It’s a beautiful place, but it is very slow with few dining options and activities beyond water sports.

There is history in Key West, and lots of dining options, but it’s not that kid friendly.

We love the keys though- but, we live to boat and scuba.

Jet ski poster again. We also enjoyed Theater of the sea and Everglades alligator farm.

Our hotel in key largo offered a long jet ski tour that we really enjoyed with our kids.

Dolphin Plus

Eat at Tacos Jalisco. Yummm… it’s a little red food truck parked in the lot of the ice cream place that everyone likes.

Is there a particular swim with dolphin tour place that is best in key largo?

Kids are 1st and 4th grade and have experience hiking 3-5 miles and kayaking 2-3 hours in a tandem with an adult, but have not experienced kayaking with real waves.

Take a helicopter tour of the keys, even if it's just 30-40 minutes. Incredible.

Key west will be too far and not worth it. Dry tortugas is expensive and difficult to get to. We did snorkel at biscayne in our way back — that was fun although I’ve done better snorkeling. You’ll want the shortie wetsuits.

My kids liked just hanging out at the beach and we did some SUP. The waters were rough so we ended up not doing the snorkeling at John Pennebaker state park but would have done that otherwise. There is a great pizza place that has other Italian food and desserts called the Italian food company. We loved it and ended up eating multiple meals there.

We did drive out to the turtle hospital. I thought it was cool but my kid thought it was depressing because the turtles are all injured. But I think many kids would like it.

Also loved the swim with dolphin place.
