I have been mostly carnivore for the past 19 months but did a little cheating over the holidays. Had my last dinner on New Years Day and have been fasting since. Over 100 hours and I feel great! Shooting for 14 days and then super clean eating to maximize the benefits of extended fasting.

Doing a cold plunge in a local river today too! 2024 is my year for great health!

I hear you, I had an easyish few days but tonight was hard. I think I had a lot of cortisol from the kidnapped baby in Georgetown story and then I had a lot more sugar cravings. Drank some water, ate a hard boiled egg and went for a short walk to distract myself. Cleared the house of junk the other day but wanted to order out tonight. Stay strong!

What did you get out of dry January last year? I’m trying it this year, so far so good but going to a party tonight so it will be harder.

First, it was harder than it should have been, which was a red flag.

Second, I truly felt much better after about a week without wine -- better sleep, better mornings, better attitude.

Third, my annual bloodwork two months later (March) was PERFECT. Not true the year before.

I also managed to reduce my consumption for several months after DJ. Then we went on vacation, and to a 4-day wedding, and to the beach and I was back to nightly wine. Then the holidays and fuggedaboudit. Time for another annual reset.

I got some bad blood readings and other readings in December, so I really have gone cold turkey on salt, wheat, and calories. Even during Christmas. I'm down ten pounds already and my BP is a bit lower.

I’ve looked at these before but can’t decide what weight to get!

Also doing Dry January, plus making healthier food choices, tracking what I'm eating, and ramping up the exercise. We have a Peloton that I use 5 days/week consistently but I've been choosing easier classes and not pushing myself. I'm feeling pretty good - it feels like a great reset so far.

Congrats and keep it up! 2 lbs a week is a lot.

+1. Doing great so far, PP!

My teenagers are committed to no fast food or takeout for the month of January. I am cooking for them, with their help. We have a meals planned for the first 2 weeks, and they've responded positively.

Well, I was going to do no sugar in January, but then I took a gummy last night and that went out the door…
Recommitting today!

I’ve done a 10 minute Pilates routine everyday so far! Not a big thing but I’m hoping to build up my activity level as the year goes on.

Only committed to Dry Jan. My husband and I are doing this together so it’s pretty easy. Not a huge drinker but ramped up in Nov & Dec so the break is welcome.

PP w/ ED past. I am under treatment for osteoporosis and so under my physical therapist’s advice, now wear a weighted vest for my daily power walks. I’m a former runner who had to give it up after repeated injuries and a break and instead am out there tearing up the trails and tracks! Loving the vest and feel like it’s improving my cardio fitness and helping my core strength and bones.
