Better to put in a little extra effort so you have a variety of good choices.

The landscape has changed. With admission offers being less predicable, it’s much better to apply to a wide range of options. Some applicants don’t know where they have no interest in attending until they have the actual results before them.

Sure, it's easier. But anecdotes and data show a wide range of possibilities and there's simply no guarantee that your kid gets accepted where they "should". It's a bit of effort, but better than discovering that your target school is off the table in the spring.

I'm other words, cast a wide net and be ready for whatever happens.

15-20 is the norm at my daughter’s school. And yes, so much work I feel like I haven’t seen her since July.
