Exactly. So many schools have either ED or RD, and that's it.
This is just telling us your kid isn't applying to top schools without saying it. (Top privates don't allow EAs at other privates so the max is one private along with publics that have EA rather than ED.)

But isn't it easier to narrow them down before submitting all those applications? We did visits last spring when she was a Junior and picked the school DD wanted to attend.
