Ok but if you live in an affluent suburb, public school kids are still privileged. We don’t live in the DMV any more, but many of my kids’ classmates and friends travel over break. To very nice places.

That’s why we always park the private jet near the 2nd home. Kids are on Snapchat and if all their friends are showing up in Italy, we can just follow them there. Gotta keep up and follow 🙄

Subject: Feels like we are the only ones in town!
If it makes it more confusing, we have a 2nd house. No one was in town by our primary residence so we bailed and went to the mountains to have some company. But no one is here, either, so now my DD is insisting that everyone is in Hawaii without her. I don’t think she’s wrong.
We had friends of friends over today (complete strangers!) because they were passing through and we offered our place as an easy bathroom stop for their kindergartener. They were so nice and we’ve been so bored that we convinced them to stay for the afternoon and the kids all went sledding together.

It's like 30 seconds of small talk and then they move on.
Agree. Plus, there will always be someone out there who has something your child doesn’t. Feeling secure in themselves and letting other people talk is an important life skill.

Why? I truly don’t get this! We’ve loved our time at home together. We travel a lot but this week is bad, everything is twice is expensive and twice as crowded.

We are a public school family and all of our friends and kids’ friends are away. I have been saying every day this week that next year, we are going away somewhere, anywhere.
