You can control the yoto from your phone OR you can select the "card" and let the kid control it without putting the card in. My kid is 2 we misplaced a couple of cards early on so that i what I do. He seems to know what is on each card (we only have 4 I have introduced at this point) and asks for a particiular song. Then he can still scroll thru and select himself.

No. My kids found it very frustrating and tbh I would never give them access to one without parental supervision bc it mishears kids and then plays random and occasionally inappropriate things.

We have only lost a few yoto cards and no tonies, fwiw. Kids usually keep their cards in the card sleeve thing.

A typical 2 yr old toddler would probably have trouble. My kid got reasonably good by age 3 to 3.5 with requesting specific songs on the Alexa. But even by age 4 he only knows about 10-15 songs to request. Now the issue is less diction but remembering the actual name of new songs.

I'd get an Echo Kids. My 10 year old has one and she loves it. She mainly asks it silly questions and listens to music on it. I like that I can occasionally review the questions she's asking.
