No state and less than 25 cities confined to three states allow voting under the age of 18.

Listen, I am on the fence about lowering the voting age in local elections. I'm not arguing for or against it.
I am disputing the inaccurate statement that "the voting age in local elections has long been 16." This is not true, at least in general elections.

I don’t know about changing the age limit, but if people were required to pass a basic, and I mean BASIC intelligence/education/information test, the world would be a much, much better place. Too many imbeciles are allowed to decide the fate of all of us, esp. in the dumb states that get the same amount of representatives as the states that produce the revenue for this country.

I understand where you're going with this, OP, but controllers would argue that since until 'children' are old enough to legally make their own decisions, they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Parents should decide what is best for their minor children, especially as it relates to health care - even if they don't believe abortion is health care.
