Don't post if you don't understand the biology. IUI is indicated for certain medical conditions, AND CHEAPER. So if you're younger, have all the right hormone levels, but happen to have a known issue with PCOS or physical issues at the tubal level, well, you're going to pick IUI over IVF as a first go-around, aren't you?
I would never waste my time and money with iui. Same with boy pgt testing. The irony is the money you think you're saving and at the end of the day you've just wasted $ and time- which in the fertility world is way more valuable than $.

On my successful IUI cycle I tested starting at 10 days post iui-- it was comforting watching a faint line get darker (this was after a miscarriage and multiple failed cycles including not ovulating even with the meds and timing being off).
dealing with secondary infertility now. i tested last cycle and found it helpful even though it was negative-- i don't like surprises-- i had a few days to practice acceptance (like at day 10 thinking well it's still possible, by day 13 it was clear it wasn't so i wasn't experiencing any additional upset when I got the call, and frankly would rather learn negative news myself than by a phone call from some random nurse given they're never particularly helpful or warm when it's bad news)
Yeah iui is completely different protocol than IVF. Good luck
Not sure what this means- the process of conceiving is different but the betas ans testing is the exact same. Have done both.
Not exactly some clinics test IVF betas at 9 days vx the standard 14 for iui.
isn't 9 days post 5 day transfer the same as 14?
Yes, these are equivalent.
When I did IVF and FETs through SG, they didn't schedule betas until 14 days after transfer, which was the equivalent of 19dpo. It felt like an eternity compared to those I knew at other clinics who got betas at 9 days post transfer.
For all 4 of my transfers, I tested one week out from the transfer. Actual betas confirmed the home test results in all but one case. That one (negative at home, positive beta) ended up being an ectopic with a very, very low initial beta.
Thanks for sharing this- at times when my home test is negative it feels like a waste to go into clinic for a beta but I'd want to know if there was a potential ectopic! 14 days post transfer sounds crazy!
