False. The assignment isn’t graded, but the test is still important for selection into advanced tracks. The teacher asked students to study on IXL.
What is IXL? I’m a different poster and the original PP either misunderstood or is full of s-it. No teacher tells their kids to “study for” a MAP test. There isn’t even any way to study for it
IXL is a math-learning site.

The one exception could be AP because that is meant to be college level
Semesters end before winter break. So college level would mean no homework over Christmas.

If this really happened and isn’t a misrepresentation by OP’s child, I would suspect the teacher didn’t have any choice. PLCs dictate everything now and a core HS course has to finish curriculum by the end of the semester.
What are PLCs?
A team of people who teach or support the same course, including paras and the admin over the department or program.

If this really happened and isn’t a misrepresentation by OP’s child, I would suspect the teacher didn’t have any choice. PLCs dictate everything now and a core HS course has to finish curriculum by the end of the semester.
