Yes they do and her comments are weird but you make a great point as to why she thinks the way she does.

Yeah I agree. Separate homes is weird. Separate bedrooms is fine, we visit each other when we’re in the mood. But we’re walking down the hall. Not across the street!

I think there is a Seinfeld episode about this idea.

Rich people used to always do that. And poor people often slept with the whole family in one room, which we also don't do. So it's not like what we're doing has a long and storied history in human development. I feel like many couples would be better off if they didn't try to shoe-horn their relationship into what late 20th century sitcoms say that a family/marriage should be. Whether it's better for all couples is doubtful. It's almost certainly better for some.
