I like McCanns for eating as oatmeal, Quaker for cooking in recipes.

I guy rolled oats in 5 lb packages at a natural foods store that's been around forever where I live. When I'm out (the store does not have convenient hours now that the original owners' kids run it) I get Quaker. Store brands (I do not get quick cooking rolled oats) do not cut it. The flakes are less substantial and mushy when cooked, and the cheaper the brand the worse they are. It may be something to do with how the oats are graded when bought to begin with.
