Meh. Speaking for my kids' public high school, the Class of 24 Instagram page was created last year. Our public school (and many other public schools) are already posting a lot too.

I've never heard of this. Why would that works. There's no barrier to entry. Kids can set up their own, rename it HighSchool24Decisions or HighSchoolSeniors24 or HS24Commitments etc. Sometimes there's more than one in the first month while it shakes out what account is THE account. At our school, kids dont rush to be posted (like at GDS apparently)

Come on -- it's a rare bit of fun for these kids. My kids don't go to a cut-throat high school. Lots of kids go to schools that DCUM does not love. They are equally celebrated.

Are you talking about the ones where high school kids post where they are going, or the ones for colleges where the incoming freshman post their photos and if they are looking for a roommate? I've seen the $ request ones (usually just a few dollars) for the college ones but not any of the high school ones.
But yeah, the college ones, a lot of the "students" there are fake. I remember looking a couple years ago at the one where my kid was going, and noticed a specific student (his first photo was shirtless, flexing his muscles) and then I started looking at those accounts for some other colleges and found the exact same guy-"fully committed" to each and every one of those universities.

Most are set up. Y students , not schools.

Typically schools only post athletic commits.

My kid is not in that environment at their school where the insta page has 2 or 3 entries so far and none are to selective schools. But she knows people across the area and is still stressed out by it.

My kid didn’t ED. He will weigh all options until May 1st. High stat kid. Many like him.

So you aren’t going to see a great portion of HS class listed- just a small group

Most aren’t set up by the school, but by students.

Some of them are scams. They want kids to pay them to post their picture.
