Easy peasy, public safety.

He did use public safety. But he pretty much ignored Poolesville and Damascus on the campaign trail. I suppose he thought he had them, but the upcounty problem is just not voting. He needs to inspire his base to actually vote.

Reduce taxes, increase police/punishments.

Once those two happen, then sure, worry about national pronoun day.

You want the county to do more expensive things while reducing the amount of revenue available to the county to pay for those expensive things.

And before you start complaining about a few million spent here and there on various projects you disapprove of, keep in mind that the county currently has a $6.7 billion (with a b) operating budget, of which $312.5 million goes to the police and another $76.9 million to corrections.

Reducing taxes may negatively impact the budget in the short term but Moco is bleeding high income individuals to VA.

I work at a large PE firm downtown and less than 10% of my firm lives in MD. All but 5 of the managers and above live in VA.

Moco needs to stop the bleeding first and foremost, which will require a more
Attractive environment for highly
Comped tax payers

We do not want to follow the Bowser model..

The law firm partners prefer MD. I'd guess that if you looked at any of the top law firms in DC, the breakdown for the partners not in DC would be 75% in MD versus 25% in VA. It feels like Chevy Chase and Bethesda have a law firm partner in every other house.

Because its a 15-20 min commute down Mass Ave from Kenwood, Westmoreland Hills, Sumner, etc.

It's usually the flashier partners that move to VA, or the transplants.

Yep, and they want to send their kids to Whitman or a private school like Landon, Holton, Georgetown Prep, etc, so living in Moco makes more sense.

Are you thinking about Robert Ehrlich, a former Republican governor? He was actually decent governor. But he has almost nothing in common with Elrich, other than letters. Plus he is from Baltimore, not MoCo.

It's an all package deal. Most progressives are critical theorists and, as such, view everything through an oppressed/oppressor lens. So black people, immigrants, the poor, trans people, etc. must be supported and can do no wrong because whatever they do is viewed as "justice."

The oppressed have become the oppressor in Moco
Just like the communists on the county council want it.

Now he wants to do a third term as CoExec, as that is the level of term limits in place (most counties in MD limit the CoExec to 2 terms not 3).

That would be 24 years on the council and coexec. We need new faces.

There is a ballot initiative underway to limit the position to 2 terms:

I blame the quality of his opponents. Blair is a prime example -- spends tons of money but can't provide a compelling message as to how he differs from Elrich. Just saying you have business experience is not a compelling message.
I would have thought Blair not being a DSA member would be enough but I guess I was wrong....twice. MoCo deserves whatever it gets.

Elrich is only a counterbalance on development. That’s the only place he’s moderate. On business and tax issues he’s a Socialist.
