I’ve gotten used to tattoos but the piercing between the eyes and the bull nose tattoos are too much

I recently read an article that said most people with tattos suffer from mental health issues including anxiety or some form of PTSD.

I don't mind a couple of tattos on discrete places but those full arm and/or leg ones are a bit too much.

Forget about those around the neck or face....

No, it's because those in positions of power aged out, and they were the ones against visible tats, non-natural hair colors, and lots of piercings.

When all of the Boomer senior management positions turned over to Gen X and elder Millennials, the workplace became much more accepting.

My grandpa has always told me I wouldn't be successful because I have a wrist tattoo and one on the top of my foot. I'm a 40 yo CTO making $327k/yr. The new CEO has gauged ears.

I don’t find tattoos attractive but I have no problems with them. The earlobe thing, on the other hand, makes me nauseous.

I also think tattoos are ugly. Their popularity nowadays is just one more example of how civilization is in decline.


Some of us grew up when only biker gangs and prisoners had them. They make my skin crawl. The worst are sleeves.


To me, tattoos show disrespect for your own skin. Unlike jewelry, or clothing, or makeup, tattoos are permanent. Isn’t the skin that you were born with beautiful enough? It shouldn’t need any permanent ink. Why anyone would get a tattoo is beyond my comprehension.

In my mid-50’s, I am just amazed how much American society has changed in my lifetime - and not for the better.
