why do you think that is remotely funny? Many of us went to HYP but can't afford it ($80=$90K a year, and of course no scholarships for us) and we CANNOT afford the kind of donation to the school that makes legacy worthwhile! how do you not know this? Ask ANY parent in a private NYC school what the donation level is expected of legacies to make it work for their kids! It is always 7 to 8 digit donations.

Maybe you need to know more about legacy admissions to ivy schools before you judge. there is a quid pro quo and a lot of grads (MINORITY) URm! cannot afford the costs to participate!

Legacies make up like 15% of the class.
True. I meant in the DC area though. At least in our school, nearly every admit is a legacy. Those that aren't are URM. End of story.

My kid is at Yale and I can attest that there are plenty of white and Asian kids from privileged backgrounds walking around campus

I had multiple Asian American kids get into my HYP alma mater after we donated less than five figures over the years. You can make all the excuses you want but your kid had multiple hooks and still didn’t get in.
We know plenty of HYP alums who saw their kids admitted and rejected. It’s completely unrelated to donations.

in our experience, it is all about legacy BUT only for those who have given 7 to 8 figures, which we could not. So triple legacy kid with the requisite stats and ECS was waitlisted.
