Most men have short hair, or no hair, so maybe it feels weird for them to go out w/o something on their head, like they feel to exposed to elements without it. My dad is like that, he won't just walk out the house bareheaded, he has a collection of ballcaps by the door and he will throw one one when leaving. He is a boomer, so maybe that is part of they, they are the generation that saw their dads wear hats everywhere.

If he likes it, he should wear it. A man who feels confident looks better than a man who is wearing something he doesn't like, regardless of how much cooler the alternative something is on its own.

Any suggestions on how to steer him into better head wear? He likes wearing hats for the shade and keeping rain off his glasses — he had a full head of (grey) hair so he doesn’t need to wear a hat as actual sun protection like when bald.

OP should just do Pavlovian training and stare at photos of Beckham in that hat, so she has that image every time her DH dons his.

better than wearing baseball caps in online dating pics (I know your husband isn't online dating, but I just had to share my horrible flashbacks from browsing online dating profiles--so many ball caps)
