What about Prodigy? How does it compare?

I thought my kid would like the bright, comics aspect but my kid found it confusing and off putting . Enjoyed RightStart Math, but that's more something you need to do with your child - lots of games. It also teaches the abacus - for number sense - but every lesson is not abacus focused..more occasionally referred to.

You could also look into DreamBox. Most kids hate it but some like it. It's computer based.

Another vote for Beast. My 2nd grader did just fine in Level 2.

Agree with the first poster about differences between Kahn and Beast and would recommend Beast in your situation. My kids liked the comic strip presentation in the Beast Academy books and thought the puzzles and problems were fun and challenging. Beast goes deep into grade-level concepts and is better for creative problem solving. Kahn is more like DCPS curriculum: basic and boring, but fine for learning or reviewing the concepts.

FWIW My 3rd grader who is solid at math, but not a superstar at her W6 DCPS (top 10% of her grade, but top few) tested just about exactly on grade level when we did the placement earlier this year (i.e., said to start 3C at Xmas break). Maybe the gap gets bigger as they get older?
