Honestly McDonalds burgers of any variety are totally fine to eat here and there IMHO. It’s the accompanying fries and tub of Coke that are the problem.
If we stop at McDonalds on a road trip, I order a double cheeseburger and a water. It’s fine.
I'm an older guy (in my 50s) and I sometimes need to order fast food because my only time for a meal is in my car.
But I get two McDoubles (not only lower carbs with only one bun, but one less slice of cheese than the double cheeseburger). I get it with two bags of apple slices instead of fries and a large unsweetened iced tea (0 calories and no artificial sweetener) instead of the Coke or Diet Coke.
McDonald's has a two-fer that makes this way cheaper than the Big Mac or Quarterpounder (or worse the double Quarterpounder). Two McDoubles for $3.99 (originally $3, then $3.50, now $4, but still a better deal than about anything else on their menu).
