Mine got T1D at 8 so alarms went off all night every night for years. The FDA approved a pump with artificial pancreas algorithm just before COVID that changed our lives. Only occasionally do I need to attend to him at night.

I still check on 9 yo and I love seeing her all snuggled in. 13 yo usually goes to bed later than me so most nights I cant.

A close loved one just looking in on me, maybe flipping off my bedside lamp or pulling the covers up if they've slipped? Yes, I would be more than fine with that and I'm 43 years old.

Yes, still check on 6 yr old. I never worry about waking her -- once she's asleep it would be impossible.

I like looking in on her but I am generally also checking her bed -- she still sometimes has nighttime accidents, especially if she's coming down with something, and she doesn't always wake up when it happens. She's also permitted to read or draw in bed after we read to her and tuck her in, and sometimes falls asleep with her book in her hands and the bedside lamp still on, so I'll go in to turn off the light and situate her in bed.

No intentions to stop anytime soon. My DH sometimes finds me asleep in bed with my lamp on, still wearing my glasses and my book on my chest, and he does the same for me. It's sweet.

Yes. I fix their covers and maybe put stuff away.

Not every day. I have college students who come home on breaks.

Sometimes they fall asleep with the iPad in their hand and the lights still on. If I get up in the middle of the night and notice this, I will remove the iPad and switch off the lights (and cover them with comforter if that is needed). Usually, they do become aware of what I am doing.

Only when they are sick. I check temps before I go to bed. Or if the temperature in the house drastically changed after they went to sleep and before I went to sleep

If I don't do it, my husband does. I'll probably keep doing it until they are going to bed after me. My almost 10 year old really likes to know that we know check on her, it's pretty sweet. The 7 year old could care less .

+1. 9 year old and I do check in on him and turn off the lights. I adjust his blanket and get all the stuff animals out of the way next to him because he tosses and turns a lot. Pretty soon, he is not going to want any stuffed animals on his bed but it’s sweet that he still does.

I probably checked until he was 10, maybe 11. No kiss, just fixed his blankets. After that I just let the dog into his room for the night.

Yes. Mine are 4 and 5, and usually my husband peeks in. If he doesn’t, I will. It’s mostly for sentimental reasons as OP said, but I’ll also fix their blankets if they’ve kicked them off, etc.

My kid is about to turn 13. I still check on him. It's sweet. And also when he still gives me huge bear hugs. If I get up in the night, I'll also just peek in, pat our dog who sleeps in there, and go back to bed. My mom did this when I was growing up and I have lovely memories of it.

Mine are 9 and 6, and I still check on them. They love it. Sometimes the 9 year old asks me to wake him up b/c he wants to remember. But 99.9% of the time they don't stir. On the rare occasion when they wake just enough, they love to get a hug and kiss before rolling back to sleep.

Yes, 10 yo. I do it now sentimentally, but for a long time it was because she fell out of bed (still asleep) and I'd pick her up off the floor.
