Yes. Something near Tenley, although I’d also go in Van Ness (Breadfurst is always packed and it’s awkward to order and stay there- i’m hoping Shemali’s comes through with drip coffee and pastries but they don’t seem interested). Saku Saku pastries are good but the coffee is awful. Tatte coffee is fine but not great- and pastries have a par baked/previously frozen taste.

If you sold decent coffee and some simple sandwiches you could do quite well. Maybe where the the old toy store was on Wisconsin. Or something in that sad stretch from Masala Art to the nail place? There are enough AU students, offices, apts, people working at home, etc to support it. I’d love a neighborhood spot in a house like TCB, but the NIMBYs would lose their minds.

I’d want more police presence before stopping by for a coffee.

That's too bad. Seemed like a great place for students from the 3 nearby schools to get morning and afternoon snacks...

Would love a coffee shop in Tenley!
Starbucks left during the pandemic. Probably ripe for a new one of some sort.

I love the Compass Coffee in Spring Valley! It does get really crowded though. They have good coffee and I like sitting by the fireplace.

Would you choose a place based on the quality of the coffee?

Junction is open at Friendship Heights. I ordered a 12 ounce coffee for there and I swear it came in a tiny mug and was not more than 6 ounces. But a nice big place to meet up for coffee.

I can’t think of a commercial block in those areas that gets enough foot traffic but doesn’t already have a coffee shop. I guess Tenley itself since the Sbux closed.

The Confetti ice cream place just closed so the space may be available but it’s a bit out of the way.

BTW, does anyone know what’s up with that old market on Western between FHghts and Westmoreland Circle?

They tried to open up again after the pandemic and I think they didn’t make it.

Thanks for this. I do wonder about that spot. It would make a great stop for a little market and coffee spot though would def need to keep the parking since there would be little foot traffic.

I can't believe there's not a replacement for the Tenleytown Starbucks, yet. It wasn't great for hanging out though.

And yes to another Friendship Heights/Village option besides the Starbucks in the Barlow Building, please. I was enjoying the Peet's until it shut down.

That’s not walking distance from Friendship Heights. I think FH could use a place like any of those

Another coffee shop would be great. I’m not a fan of Coffee Nature. I miss LPQ

I'd love it in both areas. Compass in Spring Valley is always packed, which is a sign to me that the area needs more. I do like but don't love Coffee Nature. I'd LOVE something in FH like Black Coffee.

My mother in law just moved to a condo above the FH metro, overlooking Amazon Fresh. I think there’s a Starbucks still there across the line in Md? I miss the LPQ. Something like that but independent would do very well. This is a slow moving crowd.
