And there is myneighbor who doesn’t believe allergies to dogs, horses etc are real so she is all over social media encouraging people to take their pets where they aren’t allowed and shares advice about how to hide them. As a person she is rude, selfish and entitled. My kid has horrible asthma and when I explained what happened to him in an enclosed space with dander she laughed at me and said it was too bad for me. She was also drunk as she often is. Alcoholics are generally terrible people.

I think a lot depends on how thorough the cleaning is (especially with the humans), but we recently stayed in a Homewood Suites on a rainy day and the smell of wet dog fur was unmistakable. Those rugs should have been shampooed and dried before the room was occupied by other guests.

As of 2022, 44.5% of US households owned a dog. Obviously hotels want to reach the widest audience possible. Banning dogs is leaving a lot of money on the table. It’s purely an economic decision. If you don’t want to stay at a dog friendly hotel, that’s fine, but many people, even dog-free people, aren’t so hard core that they’d avoid a hotel with dogs. So it’s a win-win for hotels.

Yes, it's a dog issue. You don't need your dog on vacation. Dogs whining/barking while shut in the room; dogs jumping on people in the elevator, etc. And yes, it's also a hotel issue. If they want to cater to dogs, have them all on one floor and leave everyone else out of it. Totally unnecessary.

I have kids and dogs but I'll basically choose dogs over most people and other people's kids. I also own an Airbnb property and the level of disgusting shit that has been done to it is like 99% humans to 1% dogs.

You're free to spend you're money how you like. If I'm with my well behaved therapy dogs at the St. Regis you're going to have to hold your trap or force them to change policy, but they won't unless you've got big bucks behind that and it doesn't mean 30k a year.
