I think it's supposed to be endearing and most of the kids like it. They like the attention of the adult and the other kids watching and waiting their turn.

My friend was an aide for awhile, she said one of the moms told her that their son came home from K and asked his mom if she could maybe get a little eyeshadow like ms. __ 😅.

It feels special to have an adult other than your parents dote on you. If they were hostile about it, I'm sure dd would ask for braids in the morning to avoid the interaction.

For me, how I felt about it would depend on how my dd acts about it.

I have one dd who has LOVED hair stuff from a very young age, and would have enjoyed that SO much! In fact, she is now a young adult and a liscensed cosmetologist/hairdresser in our state (she is also in school for business).

I have another dd who has sensory issues and would very much NOT enjoy that and I would be upset if she was pressured into someone doing her hair.

So I'd go on my kid's reaction to it. If they like it, I'm ok with it.

Huh? Ours uses the little goody rubber bands. You know- the bags of 500 for like $3. They check for lice constantly so I’m not concerned.

My dd comes home with the cutest little French braids. The teachers have to sit there and watch them while they’re on the playground so often they style hair. I think it’s cute. It’s like they’re little dolls. I’m still learning how to French braid and my braids are never tight like theirs.

I doubt anyone thinks you don’t do her hair well.

Your daughter might even be telling you she doesn't want you pulling back her hair because she wants her teacher to do it.

Goes along with the many things they will willingly do or ask for with care providers, but would battle a parent on for hours. Kids are quirky like that. There is zero judgement.

At my daughter's preschool, this was a nice way to keep the kids quiet if they refused nap time.

She's probably just finger brushing. I wouldn't be worried about her hands. She's probably washing them constantly.

Helpful for keeping lice at bay

My boys have gone to both an in-home daycare and preschool at a daycare center where I see the girls leave with braids and that spiderweb style we did in the 90s.

Our preschool used to do all the girls hair in elaborate styles and sometimes the boys too. DD would come home with multiple braids and DS with tiny ponytails all over his head like an alien. They enjoyed it. It varied by teacher - after a few years we could guess which part-time aides were there based on the hairdo!

I think it is so sweet when the teachers do my daughter’s hair. It makes me feel like they care about her. Plus I can barely get it in a bad pony tail in the morning before drop off!
