Centers : 3 infants x 1 teacher CRAZY

Family daycares: 2 infants under age of 2 years oldx 1 teacher

Virginia is WORSE

Center: 4 INFANTS. x 1 teacher

That one teacher may also be responsible for 6 other kids ages 2 and up. Some family daycares staff up with an assistant (just like some centers staff up and have more teachers than the minimum). But they are not required to have more than 1 teacher for 8 children (inc 2 infants) in a family daycare.

Usually there's always 2 or 3 teachers in the home daycare

Like our kids large daycare of 12 kids, they have 3 teachers total, and they are prek teachers

No, there aren't. They only need 1 for the 8 kids. 2 of the 8 kids can be under 2. Some may have an assistant but that's not required.

They mostly have 2 or 3 people.
Centers is worst, 3 infants for 1 person crazy

These arguments get silly.
1:3 is the legal minimum at a center. As well staffed center that is equipped for breaks, etc, maintains this as the minimum but often has more adults around. There are lots of small home daycares but there are also lots that really push that legal ratio, which yes is 1:8 (with age distinctions).

We were briefly at a well regarded home daycare in MoCo with one teacher for 8 children including our baby. Baby was much happier at her center where there was a teacher for every two babies.

How is everyone guessing at Maryland’s ratios helpful to the OP who moved out of state?

OP, what is your proposed alternative for your childcare? Can you reasonably afford the alternative? DH is probably concerned because you both need to work.

Insane

Your post implies that the ratio of 2 year olds to adults is between 12-15 in maryland and that is incorrect. I don’t know the exact numbers for that age group. However I teach 4 year olds and our ratio is 10:1. I imagine the 18 months-3 yrs is either 6 or 8:1. It also likely has something to do with potty trained vs. non potty trained kids.
