Gift giving can be tough. I love the gifts given to me by my husband, but there were times he just asks me what I want, and he buys it for me. I on the other hand, am definitely not good at giving gifts at all. What I do is I buy a gift I want for myself but not in feminine colors and my husband lets me know if he wants it and I will just give it to him. 🎁 But if he doesn’t like it, I get to keep something that I like.

I usually don't like things other people pick out. I have tried for years to get my husband to just stop exchanging gifts with me. He won't. It's silly, he always asks what I want and proceeds to completely ignore my response. I just get him whatever he asks for, so he might just as well order it himself. The only gift I can think of that I ever really liked was a thrift-shop hat that my sister gave me when we were both broke as heck. It was a really cool hat.

Yes I usually do. But I generally will try to find the good in everything so even if it isn't something I wanted, I'll make use of it and appreciate it.

Unless someone gets me something from my Amazon wish list, no. I don’t want very much, and I’m picky about my stuff. I’d really rather just have more time with people. Everyone is so busy.

Of course! My husband is an excellent gift-chooser. I have a couple of friends who are as well. I would say 75% of the time I love what I'm given.

This. I married into a family that believes everyone gets a gift on Christmas. It's so bizarre and childish to me to make a christmas list/wish list as an adult for my ILs.

I have adult money and can buy what I want, and I do 99% of the time. That 1% is for the super frivolous, uber-expensive things that I would only buy if I had tons of disposable income and not things I would ever ask someone to buy me.

I usually like the gifts my ILs give me because they only buy what I have put on my list. I don't see the point in it at all. I don't usually like the gifts that most friends give. I either donate the item or sell it online.

I'll give one point to DH though...he knows I like cozy things and bought me some beautiful and cozy pj's in my favorite color. They weren't cheap, and he looked at my current PJ pants to pick the right size. I do love them.

Then I feel bad and guilty. I have a beautiful Kate Spade purse that is so completely not me, nor is it functional for the size or shape I like to carry and I feel awful for not using it.

It’s mixed. Occasionally DH or one of my kids will nail it, but there are a lot of misses. I appreciate the effort, though. I’m not easy to buy for (and neither are they, tbh. I guess we did a good job raising non-materialistic kids—they never seem to want much!)

I don’t tell him, but I usually dislike what my husband picks. He spends a lot, but he seemingly has no idea who I am. My 13 year old son has realized in the last few years that his dad picks things that aren’t for me and tries to steer him now to the best of his ability. Results are now mixed. My kid has much better taste and my husband should totally defer to him. 😂

I buy myself practical things but like pretty, frilly stuff for gifts.

My cousin got me a pink cashmere scarf one year. It has been my favorite because not only does it feel luxurious, but it's also such a fun color that I'd never have picked out for myself.

My MIL got me a pair of fleece lined rainboots with beautiful colors one time, and they're so fun and practical. She also got me a simple cream colored hat and I love it.

Friends have gotten me quirky pins and I love them all.

DH struggles to get me presents, but honestly my favorites from him are some beautiful exotic seashells.

I'm going to go against DCUM rules and say that I love the gifts my MIL gives me. She has great taste. Last year, she gave me all gift cards and I was kinda bummed.
My mom is good too. She knows my taste and buys based on what she thinks I will like, not on what she likes.
