A personal note (or picture from a little kid) has always been my dream gift.

Another gift for MS teachers: a box of 150 presharpened pencils ($15 on Amazon). I go through one or two a quarter, which is effectively one or two pencils student per quarter, but can cost $60+ for the year. I am slightly jealous of ES teachers who can ask parents to donate supplies.

A parent once sent in construction paper and I was so grateful.

Our ES always did a teacher class gift that was a bit over the top. I stopped contributing to that and instead gave gift cards to other staff who were not getting such a big gift. That typically included the car loop teachers, paras, and secretaries. Anywhere from $10 -$20 depending on what I could afford that year and how many I was giving to.
In MS, no class gift, so dc picked 1-3 of the favorite teachers to give gifts to.

As a teacher, I would love this more than Starbucks. I’m not a coffee drinker. However, I do want to assure families that any gift is appreciated, cards with personal messages and notes are treasured, teachers aren’t comparing gift card amounts, and no one should feel obligated to give a gift to a teacher.

We do Amazon gift cards, $10 for all the special teachers, para and bus driver. $25 for the main homeroom teacher.

Two MCPS students at elementary level. If there isn’t a room mom you can help organize so there is one! Each school is different.

We give $50 for each main teacher plus a small gift and note, and $20 for all specials teachers. If I could give these people a million bucks and the car of their dreams I would lol, it’s a small price to pay to support these teachers!!

They are all amazing except my 5th grader’s teacher who is a stone cold dick head but even then he is there teaching, responding to all us parents, and just showing up and teaching which is a hero’s labor in my book.
We also support as much as possible donating wipes, glue sticks, whatever they need.

Secondary adds up quickly! I usually do a GC of $10, sometimes $15 or $20 if the individual is truly outstanding.

We give $25 gift card and a handmade card from kid.

The room parents sometimes coordinate a gift but this year haven't said what they're doing with the funds except to suggest they're going to buy something tangible, which...no. So giving a gift directly.

I understand there's a $20 limit but there's no way to enforce and $5 more is really just to account for inflation.
