The last funeral I went to there were people in jeans and bright floral dresses. So pretty. Inch anything besides pajamas is fine. Society has a super low bar for what is appropriate in clothing

But all the funerals I've been to in the last few years there has been a huge range of outfits. Some way more casual than you would probably consider wearing to a funeral.

A dark green dress is perfectly appropriate.

+2

I’ve been to three (!) funerals this year and wore what I thought was standard: a black sheath dress, black pumps, black cardigan and pearls. People have shown up in jeans, etc. I do not get it.

Absolutely! You do not have to wear black.

Totally fine.
I was at a funeral last weekend in black pants and a maroon sweater and I fit in without a problem.
Any muted color is fine. Bright pink floral is bad. (Unless it's like the best funeral I ever attended several years ago, when everyone was asked to wear pink and purple since those were the deceased favorite colors
