I’m 47 and tell people that. I’m proud of my age.

This happens to me too, OP. I live abroad in a more traditional society where asking personal questions is fairly standard.

I also look much younger than my actual age. It’s genetic mostly. And thank goodness I was a gothish kid in school because I never tanned.

I am average looking and no one really ever looks twice at me.

There is nothing wrong with looking young but in real life, almost everyone looks their age and most often, older. And telling someone they look young is what a lot of people say to make you feel good about yourself.

There have been only two people that I can legitimately say that i was surprised at their age.

I get indirectly asked by clients, they seem to all think I am in my 20s and closer to their age when I am often old enough to be their parent.

At this point, it is flattering but it used to bother me when I was young and wanting to be promoted at work yet people often thought I didn't have authority. But working for myself is a whole different ball game, and I'll take it.

I’ve had quite a few people ask my age - typically other women and usually the mean girls who haven’t grown up are the ones asking so I assume it’s a topic to gossip about.

I don't remember the last time I was asked my age, but I got carded (twice!) on Saturday night. I'm 48.

Why would someone ask my age? If they did, I would just tell them.
