Maybe you should just make chocolate pudding.

I might try this (though it appears to maybe just be repackaged corn starch)

This is the best idea. I make hot chocolate with evaporated milk. It is so good cooled down. Still thick. So a combo of melting a good hot choc mix with evap milk then cooled down. Give it a try.

Make it with whole milk & add a bit of either whipped cream on top or just a bit of whipping cream.

Promised Land Midnight Chocolate milk if you have buy from a store.

Otherwise Hershey's syrup + whole milk + a pinch of kosher salt is the way to go.

The Trader Joe’s whole fat chocolate milk uses guar and gellan gum (plus the fat from whole milk) to thicken it. But I sense that OP is of the “stuff” “maybe” “later” “dangerous” .net school of thought and that’ll probably be too risky for her, too.

This is delicious (uses cornstarch as a thickener). I've only tried it hot, but I guess you could chill it if you wanted cold chocolate milk.

OP,

There is no way to get the thickened texture without either a ton of fat or added thickeners.

You could try making some at home with cornstarch, if you want to avoid cream, cocoa butter and jelling agents like carageenan.

Add some half-and-half to whole milk until desired consistency.

Yum!

That seems very Northeast /New England to me! Remember Starbucks Chantico of the 00’s. It was amazing - torch + Dairy Milk bar

I love what carrageenan does for taste
-just worried about daily, got years.

Maybe my kids will start loving yogurt daily

Sure, real European hot chocolate is thick and decadent - but it's not chocolate milk.
